Some people get the wrong idea about this website, especially because of the name Beer Diet Project… since this is not about drinking beer per se, I want to share with you WHY I chose this name…
When I hit my all time heavy weight of 202 lbs (which I know many people may think it’s not too bad), the first thing my finger pointed at was beer…
I was on a mission to lose weight and I promised myself I would change my entire diet, sacrifice even my favorite food (Pizza) as long as I did not have to quit drinking beer…
While I did quit drinking beer for a few weeks, I soon discovered that beer not only was NOT the cause of my weight gain, but that there was so much I’d learned about health and nutrition through my beer brewing knowledge…
Fermentation is one of the most underrated way to prepare our foods yet there are so many things that involve fermentation that relate to health…
If you think about this for a second, how do you think vitamins are created??
How do you get Vitamin A, Vitamin B12 or Vitamin D for example?
Foods may contain the precursors to these vitamins, but the actual vitamins are created by bacteria during fermentation…
Take fish oil for example… if you take it unfermented, you are essentially getting Omega-3 fats, but if you take fermented versions like Fermented Cod Liver Oil you get Vitamin A and D at good ratios.
They say that if you don’t eat meat you can become Vitamin B12 deficient, but beer can actually give you that vitamin as is the case with a good unfiltered and properly served Hefeweizen.
Fermented foods have been found to have more nutrients available (or bio available as some call it) than regular or raw foods.
True chocolate, is a seed within a fruit that needs to be FERMENTED before it can be used as cacao… hmmm
I mean, that’s what I’ve heard through some research, but again, I’m just sharing stuff I’ve come across and as it’s the case with everything you’ll read or see on this site, do your own research and see what you can come up with… just don’t forget to come back and share or correct me if I’m wrong with anything I’ve posted here.
Cheers!
